Batista will not be wrestling for a few months at the very least, and it's not thanks to Randy Orton's punt to the head. Batista has suffered from some severe hamstring difficulties over the past few weeks and the WWE decided that it was time to take care of the issue.

Batista should be having surgery some time soon but the severity of the injury complied with the post-surgery recovery time should take him completely out of the Wrestlemania picture.

They used the Randy Orton "punt" angle as a way to write him out of the storylines in a way that will enable him as much time as he needs to recover.

This has totally changed the Wrestlemania main event situation because there are even less possible scenarios due to Batista's injury.

I originally was thinking we might see "Cena vs. Batista II", "Orton vs. Batista II", or a triple-threat match between the three Superstars, but with the absence of Batista, things are beginning to look much more clear.

There are only a handful of Superstars capable of main-eventing Wrestlemania, and I believe that the most likely scenario will be to see a John Cena vs. Randy Orton showdown. It is the logical choice and would be a great way for the WWE to push the Cena/Orton rivalry to new limits. I've always believed that this feud has the potential to become this generation's "Rock vs. Austin".

The confusing thing will be to see what happens next week. I thought that Randy Orton was a lock to win the Fatal-Four-Way, but if they want to save him up for Wrestlemania, we might see another boring match between John Cena and Chris Jericho.

The reason I think this is because they can't have Orton go one to lose to Cena at the Royal Rumble. Not unless they want to push him again when Wrestlemania comes along. If Orton goes on to the Rumble and beats Cena, who's gonna face Orton?

I guess they could do a rematch unless they found another opponent for Orton at Wrestlemania. The issue here is, I don't think there is anyone besides Cena who is capable of facing Orton at Wrestlemania.

The lone exception would be Shawn Michaels but he looks to be far to deep into his storyline with JBL for me to see that happen.

Orton eventually becoming champion would be a perfect way to build up to Batista's return, especially if they continue with the "punt" angle that had sidelined Batista in the first place.

Batista's injury very well might have opened the door for Randy Orton. Batista is a main event player, no question about it but I'd hate to see Batista face Cena when Orton is the better wrestler and a man more qualified to put on a great show. I mean this as no knock against Batista, it's just my personal feelings on the issue.

Nothing is clear cut in regards to the World Title situation right now, but I'm sure we will have a much better idea after next week's Raw.

No word yet on the specifics regarding Batista's injury but if nothing else, it might be a while before we get to see the Animal...................
